On December 19, 2024, the Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) successfully held the “New Vision: Frontier Forum on Organization and Strategic Management” in A28 classroom of MBA Center, South College Road Campus. Organized by the Department of Organizational and Human Resource Management of the Business School, the forum aimed at discussing and exchanging cutting-edge research and development trends in the field of organizational and strategic management. More than 40 professors and students from more than 10 universities, including Central University of Finance and Economics, Peking University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Sun Yat-sen University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Beihang University, Erasmus University of the Netherlands, University of International Business and Economics, Xijiaotong Liverpool University and Soochow University, participated in the forum. Associate Professor Zhang Hongyu, head of the Department of Organization and Human Resource Management, chaired the forum.

At the beginning of the forum, Prof. Liu Xiaoyuan, Associate Dean of the School of Business of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), delivered a speech on behalf of the School, welcoming all the guests, faculty and students to the forum. He reviewed the development history of the School of Business and the progress of discipline construction, emphasized the significance of the Forum for the School's discipline construction, academic research and talent cultivation, and encouraged the participating professors and students to actively communicate with scholars in-depth, and to improve their own academic research capabilities through the collision of ideas.
Prof. Xie Zhenzhen of Sun Yat-sen University Business School delivered a keynote speech entitled “Out of reach, out of mind: Interstate conflict and multinational subsidiary corporate social responsibility”. The keynote speech was entitled “Out of reach, out of mind: Interstate conflict and multinational subsidiary corporate social responsibility”. Under the perspective of interstate conflict, Prof. Xie Zhenzhen discussed in depth the social responsibility practices of Chinese subsidiaries of multinational corporations and how these practices are affected by the home country, the host country and the parent company, which enriched the literature on stakeholder governance and the research in the field of multinational management.
Prof. Li Fuli from the School of Management of Xi'an Jiaotong University gave a keynote speech on “Complex Research Challenges and Innovative Paths for Knowledge Translation in OBHR”. Prof. Li discussed the experience of complex data collection and knowledge translation in the field of organizational behavior and human resources, and how to support research through the industry-research translation platform, shared cases of integration between academia and practice, and showed how to provide personalized reports on talent, team management diagnosis and other services to support the development of enterprises through academic research.
Wu Zhiyan, a long term associate professor of Erasmus University, gave a keynote speech on “Responding to shareholder-led social activism at peer firms: Evidence from a regression discontinuity design”. Based on information processing theory, he analyzed how shareholder-led social activism at peer firms affects the appointment of non-profit organization directors on corporate boards through a regression discontinuity design.
Ling Chuding, Professor at Renmin University of China School of Business, in his speech “Revealing new aspects of team micro-dynamics: insights from three recent studies”, revealed a new perspective on team micro-dynamics, focusing on the relationship between team members. In his presentation “Revealing new aspects of team micro-dynamics: insights from three recent studies”, Ling Chuding reveals new perspectives on team micro-dynamics, focusing on status incongruence among team members and how this incongruence affects team cooperation through team specialization.
Prof. Xu Linna, Professor of School of Economics and Management, Beihang University, shared her early research experience “From course papers to top journals”, shared her experience of submitting manuscripts to top journals, and provided valuable advice for local doctoral students in conducting high-quality academic researches, and encouraged them to positively deal with the challenges at the early stage of their academic careers.
Professor Wu Zhiyan shared his experience on “Career Planning - How local PhDs can seek teaching positions and develop themselves in the international academic world”, and provided advice on topic selection, research methodology, academic writing and review responses. He also encouraged young scholars to pay close attention to the development trend and academic frontiers in the academic world, and to plan their career development well.
Finally, Professor Zhang Hongyu, Director of the Department of Organization and Human Resource Management of the School of Business, made a concluding speech, thanking the scholars for their wonderful sharing, which not only provided personal academic experience in sensibility, but also guided the direction of academic research frontiers and development trends in rationality, encouraging the participants to draw on the scholars’ experience to guide their own academic research.
This forum is an important initiative of the college’s discipline construction, is a brainstorming academic event, not only for the scholars to provide an opportunity to exchange the latest research, but also for young students to set up a stage for learning and enlightened thinking, prompting them to be able to better position themselves in the academic exploration, and do a good job in the development of their academic career planning.
