27 November 2024, the Business School held the 118th Academic Lecture Series of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of CUFE and the 27th Academic Excellence Lecture Forum of the Business School. The lecture invited Associate Professor Xiang Shuting from the International Business School of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics as the sharing guest. Faculty members, doctoral students and undergraduates attended the event.
The meeting was hosted by Associate Professor Liu Wei from the Department of Organization and Human Resource Management of the School. Before the lecture officially started, Professor Liu Wei introduced Associate Professor Xiang Shuting's biography. Professor Xiang Shuting is an Associate Professor of the School of International Business of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, a Master's Degree Tutor, and the Deputy Head of the Department of International Business. She has published more than ten papers in the Journal of Management Science and other domestic and international high-level academic journals, presided over and participated in a number of projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and won the third prize of the Teaching Innovation Competition of National Colleges and Universities, the first prize of Sichuan Provincial Colleges and Universities Professors' Teaching Innovation Competition, She has won the third prize of National College Professors‘ Teaching Innovation Competition, the first prize of Sichuan College Professors’ Teaching Innovation Competition, the second prize of Sichuan Young Professors‘ Teaching Competition, the second prize of Sichuan Young Professors’ Style Competition, the first prize of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics Young Professors' Teaching Competition, the first prize of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics Civic Policy Teaching Competition, the excellent professors of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and Civic Policy Model Courses.
The topic of Professor Xiang Shuting's lecture is ‘Helping others helps you: How can team performance pay stimulate mutual help among members?’ Based on the model of team altruism, the study investigates how the combination of individual and collective incentives in pay-for-performance design enhances team mutual-help motivation and behaviour at the team level. The study not only explains what types of pay-for-performance designs at the team level can promote mutual aid behaviors, but also helps to deepen scholars' understanding of the relationship between the motivations for team altruistic behaviors, and provides insights for managers to optimize the design of compensation systems and team management.
After the sharing, in response to the topic of Professor Xiang Shuting's lecture, the participating professors and students actively discussed the topics of research design, publication of high-level papers, and business management practices, which further deepened the in-depth exchanges of academic research.
