On the afternoon of November 5, 2024, the Business School held the 23th lecture of the Business School Academic Excellence Lecture Theatre 2024 in Room 615 of the Main Teaching Building of the South College Road Campus of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE). The lecture invited Professor Hubert Pun from Yiwei Business School of Canada as the guest speaker. A total of more than twenty faculty members and graduate students attended the event.
The meeting was hosted by Professor Nina Yan of the Business School. Before the lecture started, Professor Nina Yan introduced the curriculum vitae of Professor Hubert Pun, who is a tenured professor, PhD supervisor, J. Allyn Taylor/Arthur H. Mingay Chair and PhD Program Director of Yiwei Business School at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. 2016 and 2017 were the two consecutive years that he was awarded the J. Allyn Taylor/Arthur H. Mingay Chair and PhD Program Director of Yiwei Business School. , 2017 Received the Trailways Dean's Teaching Commendation Award for two consecutive years (top 10% Trailways Business School faculty); Research Merit Award for five consecutive years (top 10% Trailways Business School faculty) for the period 2019-2023, and his case study General Motors: Innovative Supplier Selection was the runner-up on Trailways Publishing's annual global best-seller list (2022-2023). Research areas include competing, counterfeiting, and how blockchain can be used as an enterprise solution, with publications in UTD24 top journals Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management and other top journals. He is currently a senior editor of the UTD24 topical journal Production and Operations Management and an associate editor of the International Journal of Production Research.
Professor Hubert Pun's lecture on “Research Paper Writing Workshop” provides practical guidance on writing a research paper, including how to write an abstract that includes a problem statement, methodology, and managerial implications. In the introduction, the focus is on the motivation for the study and the main findings. The literature review covers 5-10 relevant papers to frame the research. The research methodology section explains how the methodology is clearly presented. In the results section, the 'what', 'why' and 'what's the point' of the findings are presented. Finally, the conclusion summarizes the key insights, contributions and future research directions.
After the sharing, professors and students discussed the topics of Professor Hubert Pun's lecture, such as publication of high-level papers and research design, which further deepened the depth of communication in academic research.
