Recently, under the guidance of Professor Nina Yan and Associate Professor Jizhou Lu from the Department of Supply Chain and Operations Management, Liu Yang, a PhD student, has published an academic paper as the first author in the flagship journal in the field of operations management, European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR), entitled ‘Agency or Reselling? Agency or Reselling? Supplier's Online Channel Strategies with Platform Financing’, published in European Journal of Operational Research, the flagship journal in the field of operation management, as the first author. EJOR is an ABS-4 journal, which is also recognised by the Central University of Finance and Economics. This is the second ABS-4 journal paper published by Liu Yang during his master's and doctoral studies, which fully demonstrates the remarkable results of the School of Business in the cultivation of postgraduate students.

Based on the background of the rapid development of China's platform economy, the increasing integration of online and offline channels, and the state's strong support for the development of supply chain finance business, the paper focuses on the e-commerce platform financing service in the dual-channel supply chain, and researches the supplier's online channel strategy. The article constructs a dual-channel supply chain model containing capital-constrained suppliers, e-commerce platforms and offline retailers, in which the suppliers can obtain two kinds of channel sales services (resale or agency sales) and corresponding financing services (retailer financing or agency platform financing) through e-commerce platforms. By solving and analysing the game theory approach, the paper explores the financing conditions under the two channel strategies and the optimal channel strategy choices of suppliers. This study not only reveals the important role of e-commerce platform financing, but also provides a valuable reference for suppliers to develop channel strategies that can effectively integrate operational and financial considerations. The thesis is modelled on Chinese business practices and tells the ‘China story’ in the international academic arena.
This research is supported by the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) under the Key Project Support Programme for Doctoral Students. Meanwhile, with the support of the Graduate Student Academic Exchange Support Programme of the School of Business, Liu Yang presented the paper at the POMS China International Conference in July 2023, and had in-depth exchanges with experts in the field on the content of the research. This not only expands the international influence of the research, but also fully demonstrates the excellent effectiveness of the Business School in supporting postgraduate students' academic exchanges.
This research reflects the important results of the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in the cultivation of postgraduate students and the construction of the research support system, which provides strong support for the cultivation of high-quality composite academic talents. The School of Business will continue to improve the research and innovation ability and international academic vision of graduate students, and help graduate students make more ‘CUFE voices’ on the global stage.
